Scór Sinsear 2009
The Senior Scór began for Ballycomoyle at the County
semi-final in Ballymore Community Centre on Friday February 13th. For a number
of weeks beforehand our competitors in the various categories were working hard
at different venues around the area. A house in Glenidan was turned into a coach
building workshop for a time to prepare for the novelty act. On the night in
Ballymore we were represented in seven categories out of the eight as follows.
Figure Dancing: Olivia Kenny, Bríd Dobson, Miriam Dolan, Abbey Ennis, Sabrina
Dermody, Angela Sullivan, Elaine Caffrey and Deirdre Healy.
Solo-singing: Doreen
Farrelly.
Recitation: Catherine Daly.
Ballad Group: Siobhán Murphy, Catherine
Daly, Gráinne Healy, Doreen Farrelly and Micheál Fagan
Quiz: Andrea Farrelly, Seán Dermody and Seamus Coyle.
Novelty Act: Seamus McDermott, Dermot McKenna,
Carmel Coyle, Catherine Daly, Neville Jessop, Elaine Caffrey, Seán Daly and
Gráinne Healy.
Set Dancing: Michael Caffrey, Kathleen Caffrey, Micheál Fagan,
Anna Marie McKenna, John McManus, Deirdre Healy, Marius Reilly and Sinéad
O’Neill.

We got through to the County final in a record
four disciplines. Solo singing, Recitation, Ballad Group and Novelty
act. Our dancers in the figure and set along with our quiz team were
disappointed. |

| County Final. In the County final at the Downs GAA hall on Saturday
February 28th we fought bravely in all four categories. When the dust settled we
had won the ballad group competition against very stiff opposition. The
remaining three competitions went against us on the night.
Leinster Semi-Final
In the Leinster semi-final our Ballad Group
triumphed once again to reach the Leinster Final.
Leinster Final
Despite giving a flawless performance in the
Leinster final we sadly did not get the decision of the judges. Thus
ends the dream for another year.
