Scór Sinsear 2006

County Final

Siobhán Murphy on stage in the Senior Scór solo-singing County Final on Saturday Feb. 25th '06

Unfortunately Siobhán didn't get the nod from the adjudicators, losing out to The Downs entrant who also won last year's County Final. We can be confident, however, that Siobhán will bring glory to our club in the coming years. Watch this space.

County Semi-Final

Ballycomoyle, under the guiding hand of Doreen Farrelly, took part in the County Senior Scór on Friday February 10th in The Down's clubhouse. The Club was represented in Three categories.

Solo Singing:        Siobhán Murphy.

Recitation:           Gráinne Healy

Quiz:                   Seamus McDermott, Niall McKenna and Seamus Coyle.

Despite galant efforts from Gráinne and our quiz team neither made the cut for the next round. Siobhán Murphy on the other hand did get the nod from the judges after singing beautifully in a very strong field. She will be representing the club in the County Finals back in The Downs on Saturday 25th of February at 7pm.

Scór na nÓg 2006
(Club and County Finals held at the end of 2005)

Ballycomoyle hosted Scór na nÓg first round in Collinstown Hall on Saturday November 12th at 8pm after a long absence from this competition.  Great credit must go to Doreen Farrelly, who having invested a lot of time and hard work in this project saw it come to fruition on the night. Doreen who is no stranger to Scór, having competed both at Junior and Senior levels for no less than three separate clubs, recruited teams and individuals in the following categories.

Recitation:      Karen Coyle & Saoirse Farrelly
Solo Singing:    Samantha Smyth & Jane Coyle
Quiz Teams:
John Corrigan, Jamie Ward & Steven Bardon
Sinéad Lynch, Cían Farrelly  & Sinéad McNicholas
Instrumental Group:
Hilary Gaffney, Alma Gunning & Cían Farrelly (the instrumentalists are being coached by Siobhán Masterson).

All our competitors gave of their best on the night and deserve great praise for their effort and bravery in getting on stage in front of a capacity crowd. Jane Coyle, accompanied by Catherine Daly, qualified to go forward to the county semi-final in The Downs clubhouse on Sunday November 20th at 5pm in the solo-singing category. Dermot McKenna was at his usual best on the mike for the night and kept a great night's entertainment moving along swiftly. This was the first of what will hopefully be many nights of scór for the club.

Semi Final
Unfortunately, despite giving a brilliant performance on the evening of 20th November in the Downs, Jane Coyle did not make the cut for the County final. Her performance and that of all the Ballycomoyle competitors and organisers does however augur well for the future. Jane at only 11 years old still has many years of Scór na nÓg left.
