Scór Sinsear 2010

Our Senior Scór team for 2010 are as follows.

Figure dancing: Carmel Coyle, Miriam Dolan, Catherine Daly, Tanya Kenny, Olivia Kenny, Ciara Fanning, Martina Murphy and Bridget Murphy.
Solo singing: Siobhán Murphy.
Recitation: Catherine Daly
Ballad group: Doreen Farrelly, Gráinne Healy, Siobhán Murphy, Catherine Daly and Micheál Fagan.
Question time: Seamus McDermott, Seán Dermody and Seamus Coyle.Sub: Andrea Farrelly
Novelty act: Seamus McDermott, Dermot McKenna, Carmel Coyle, Seán Daly, Helen Coyle, Catherine Daly, Anna Marie McKenna and Gráinne Healy.
Set Dancing: Kathleen Caffrey, Deirdre Healy, Sinéad O'Neill, Liz Fagan, Marius Reilly, Micheál Fagan, Michael Caffrey and Michael McDonnell.

They will participate in the County semi-final in The Downs GAA Hall on Sunday February 21st at 4pm.

County semi-final.
As in last years competition, we got four of our seven entries through to the county final stage.

Ballad group: Doreen Farrelly, Gráinne Healy, Siobhán Murphy, Catherine Daly and Micheál Fagan.
Novelty act: Seamus McDermott, Dermot McKenna, Carmel Coyle, Seán Daly, Helen Coyle, Catherine Daly, Anna Marie McKenna and Gráinne Healy.

Both dance groups and the question time team were again disappointed.

County Final
We participated in four categories of Senior Scór in The Downs GAA Hall last Saturday evening Feb. 27th having qualified from the county semi-final of the previous week. First up was Siobhán Murphy in the Solo singing competition. Siobhán sang a beautiful song perfectly and left the decision very difficult for the judges. Unfortunatley she was up against two former all- Ireland champions and one of  last year's all-Ireland finalists and the form was too difficult to overcome. Next we had Catherine Daly in the Recitation. Catherine had to sub into this competition at very short notice at the semi-final stage and despite giving her usual faultless performance, had too much of a  hill to climb.  She had more luck with her colleagues Doreen Farrelly, Gráinne Healy, Siobhán Murphy and Micheál Fagan in the Ballad Group. They got the nod from the judges and retained their county title.  Our Novelty act comprising  Seamus McDermott, Dermot McKenna, Carmel Coyle, Seán Daly, Helen Coyle, Catherine Daly, Anna Marie McKenna and Gráinne Healy performed a very original sketch penned by Catherine Daly. They put everything into it but sadly were also disappointed when the votes were cast.

Leinster Semi-Final
Our Ballad Group now represent Club and County in the Leinster semi-final in the Downs GAA hall on Sat. March 6th at 3pm.

Leinster Final
After comfortably reaching the Leinster final we unfortunately went out to last years winners and all Ireland champions, Clara. Clara eventually went on to win this years all Ireland final also.

 After the votes were cast in both venues we were left with the following for the County semi-finals.

After outstanding performances from all participants we are now left with an unprecedented eight acts in the County Final. Some of these will unfortunately have to compete against each other for County honours. They line out as follows.

We had one County Champion this year in Sarah Fagan, solo singing. Sarah went forward to the Leinster semi-final where she sadly was defeated. Sarah is a very young county champion and I am sure she will be back next year to defend her county title and go even further.
